zombies are all around us
No, I don't really mean that. Or did I? Hmm.
First movie of the day; 'Fiddler on the Roof'. Lovely. Just lovely and sort of makes me want to dance now. There was this song called 'If I was rich man' and I think that this song was actually remade and revamped by Gwen Stefani in her song 'Rich Girl'. It sounded so good being played with the violin. The story was okay, alright only. There were several scenes that stood out in my mind too. Somehow the movie reminded me of 'The Sound of Music' for some reason. Well, overall an entertaining movie musical worthy of being a true classic. And I just love the fiddler! A 8.5 out of 10.
The next movie was a weird zombie "horror" movie; 'Shaun of the Dead'. This was just a weirded out movie. It's supposed to be a horror movie which I think it actually is but I found myself laughing out loud several times throughout the course of this 90 minutes movie. I don't know really if it's supposed to be funny or witty or just scary. Somehow the movie didn't scare me that much but there were several scenes that were just so hilarious despite the movie trying not to be funny. Or maybe they were trying to be funny. I don't know for sure. I suppose it could be called a horror satire cum romantic comedy type movie but that's just too much of a mouthful to put this movie in a genre of its own. Because really, I've never watched any other movie like this one before and I really want to watch another one like it where I get confused over what I'm supposed to feel. A 8 out of 10.
And that ends my movie watching marathon this week. Overall, my favourite pick out of the movies I lounged through was surprisingly 'Shaun of the Dead' followed by 'Garden State' and 'Fiddler on the Roof'. Yeah, I just love weird movies now, don't I? Anyways, I feel satisfied after having had my fill of movie indulging to last me till next week since there's really nothing interesting enough to lure me back into the cinema.
I've also just finished 'The Vampire Armand' and am moving on to George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'. 'Armand' wasn't as good as 'Interview with the Vampire' and I still maintain my stand on 'Interview' being the best book in the vampire chronicles by Anne Rice. Yeps. I've heard good things about 'Animal Farm' so it should be a good read.
Should I get that flowery print sneakers or high-top from MNG that I've been sort of aching for since the last time I saw it which was last Friday? It just looked too pretty except that it cost RM129 so I'm hoping there'll be some discount then I can afford it better. Sigh. So, yes, I'm going to Mid Valley tomorrow to do some shopping, if possible, and then on to Borders Bookshop at Times Square to check out what's so great about it and if it's really as big or bigger as Kinokuniya at KLCC. Oh, and the cousin will be accompanying me of course to snap random shots with her lomocam in broad daylight. So, basically people will be staring at us taking shots up close of anything using a purple colour camera that frankly looks too much like a toy. A toy, yes but nevertheless pretty.
