My stomach hurts. Really bad. Really, really, and most terribly painful. I don't think it's food poisoning since I didn't purge though I felt like it. It could just be period cramps which sucks since I've never gotten them until just now. My head's spinning and everything seems a blur. No, not really blur but just dizzy. Enough of my self-inflicted pain, and on to more movie reviews.
"Pom Poko" / "Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko"
The most outrageous and weirdest Ghibli production I've seen yet. The story was actually really good but I just love the 'tanuki'! They're something like a cross between a badger, raccoon and a small bear cub. They're hilarious and so cute. The story was about environmentalism again but I didn't really notice it that much. And somewhere in the middle of the movie, the scene eerily reminded me of 'Animal Farm'. Loved the movie through and through. A somewhat light hearted movie too. I give it a 9 out of 10. Go Pom Poko! The highest rating I've given a movie yet.
"Ocean Waves" or "I can Hear the Sea" / "Umi ga Kikoeru"
A typical love triangle story set in a Japanese high school. But I liked it because it felt very real to me. The characters were quite well done though I got annoyed with the main girl character. Very 'Boys Be' like too. There was something wrong with the DVD too as I watched the second half of the movie first and then the first half after the second half finished. It was weird watching that way but at least the storyline's simple enough for me to get it without confusing me about what's going on. A 6 out of 10.
I was supposed to watch "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Porco Rosso" today but there was no English subtitles so I think I will have to get the VCD myself. "Laputa: The Castle in the Sky" also had no English subtitles but I don't think I'm planning to watch it as I'm not interested in it and also it sounds a bit like Nausicaa and Mononoke. I think I've had enough of action/environmentalism anime movies to satisfy me for a while.
So that means tomorrow will be the last day of my Studio Ghibli movie marathon with two more to watch. Phew. Nothing else going on in my life. Been pretty much cooped up in the house and stoning in my room. Until my next last two reviews.

Oh yeahhh.. sorry.. forgot to tell you about that one. The movie that starts off with the second part first. I didn't notice too until I watched it and was all 'eh.. this is weird..' I ended up watching it again in the correct sequence anyways. And haha.. glad that you rated Pon Poko so high. I thought it was weird but yeah.. the ending of the movie was really good to me.
That really was strange as suddenly half an hour into it there was credits rolling and I was thinking why? But then the blue Ghibli logo thing came out and I just realized what really happened. But it's ok. Go all tanukis!
